Mission
Modcon Living is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustaining homes and communities. We believe that everyone should have access to the resources they need to live in a safe and healthy home.
Modcon Living assists homeowners through unique programs and services that help to sustain homes, improve quality of life, and preserve homeownership including Safe at Home, Mod Squad, and our membership-based Tool Library.
History
Established in 1991, previously founded as an affiliate of Christmas in April, and formerly known as RT Central Ohio and Rebuilding Together Central Ohio, Modcon Living is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has grown and evolved over the years.
Founded on the concept of barn raising, we believe that we can accomplish great things quickly when we come together as neighbors.
In 2004, we began providing year-round emergency home repair, maintenance, and safety modification services to vulnerable homeowners through our Safe at Home program.
In 2009, we assumed management of the community Tool Library lending program for Franklin County residents and began offering various Tool Library Memberships to empower homeowners and support DIY home repairs. This hugely popular program continues to grow and assist homeowners and community partners in sustaining homes, properties, and community gardens.
In 2018, we began offering handyman services to local residents through our social enterprise, Mod Squad. Revenue generated from Mod Squad projects helps fund urgently needed home repairs for vulnerable senior, Veteran, and disabled homeowners through our Safe at Home program.
In 2019, we relaunched as Modcon Living and participated in the first Columbus Philanthropitch.
